What's on the baby-naming horizon for 2010?

There are lots of things to think about when choosing a name for your child, as our baby naming posting article points out.

One thing you may want to consider is what's popular at the moment and what's not. You might feel differently about naming your little boy Jack once you know it's been the most popular boys' name in England and Wales for the past nine years!

What we can all agree with is that every parent wants to give their baby the perfect name — one that expresses their family’s tastes and values, complements their last name, and gives their little one the best possible start in life.

At the same time, history has shown that the baby girl names and baby boy names parents choose are strongly influenced by trends. Those trends may come from any number of sources, including pop culture, fiction, religion, politics, even the economy.

Based on other data from the Social Security Administration, we predict that the following names, whose popularity grew significantly between 2007 and 2008, will emerge as front-runners in 2010.

2010 Baby Boy Names: Aiden, Alijah, Brady, Braylon, Caleb, Hugo, Lucas, Mason

2010 Baby Girl Names: Ainsley, Amari, Brooke, Fiona, Gabriella, Hailey, Jayla, Kendall, Mia, Mila, Paige, Valentina

Good luck picking a name, and we hope you have found some inspiration from the lists above that will help make your search for the perfect baby girl name or baby boy name a little bit easier!
